What Does the HLTAID011 First Aid Course Include?
This accredited HLTAID011 first aid course is designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge to provide a first aid response to a casualty across a range of real-world situations — at work, in a school, or in your community.
HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
CPR training is fully embedded in the HLTAID011 course. You do not need to complete a separate CPR course. As part of your practical assessment, you must perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on an adult manikin. This aligns with Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines and tests your ability to deliver uninterrupted CPR at the correct rate and depth.
Completing HLTAID011 gives you both your CPR and first aid certification on a single Statement of Attainment.
HLTAID010 Provide Basic Emergency Life Support
HLTAID011 also incorporates the skills and knowledge covered in HLTAID010 Provide Basic Emergency Life Support. This gives you a layered foundation across emergency response — from basic first aid through to comprehensive first aid techniques.
Comprehensive First Aid Techniques
The provide first aid course includes instruction and hands-on practice across a full range of emergencies. You will learn to apply first aid, administer first aid with confidence, and manage first aid situations including burns, fractures, anaphylaxis, seizures, shock, and spinal injuries. First aid techniques are applied in line with current Australian Resuscitation Council standards throughout.
Who Needs HLTAID011?
HLTAID011 is the baseline requirement for any role described as a “workplace first aider” or that requires a current first aid certificate. Common requirements include:
Workplace first aiders under WHS regulations (all industries)
Teachers and school staff in most Australian states
Personal trainers and fitness professionals for industry registration and insurance
Construction site first aiders as required by WHS regulations
Hospitality managers and supervisors under venue and insurer requirements
Corporate staff in designated first aider roles
Workplace first aid training is a legal requirement in many industries. Your employer may specify that you need to attend first aid training through an accredited training provider to meet compliance obligations. No prior first aid experience is required to enrol.
