Our Expectation of You
Contribute positively to learning without discrimination based on gender, race, sexual preference, political views, marital status, disability, or religious beliefs. Follow FAP First Aid (RTO #46449) rules.
Be honest and respectful, never falsify work or information, and avoid any behaviour that could harm or offend others.
Take responsibility for your learning and development by actively participating and keeping up with your learning modules. Meet assessment deadlines and monitor your own progress.
Use college facilities and publications respectfully, respecting copyrights and preventing unauthorised distribution.
Respect the privacy and confidentiality of fellow students and college staff members.
Your Safety
- Know and observe all safety signs, symbols, and instructions in training areas
- Report hazards, incidents, injuries, or near misses to RTO staff immediately using the appropriate incident reporting procedures
- Follow all reasonable safety directions given by your trainer/assessor or staff
- Do not behave in a way that places yourself or others at risk of injury
- Report any pre-existing medical conditions, allergies, or physical limitations that may affect your ability to safely participate in training and assessment activities
- Attending training under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol is a serious work health and safety concern. Training under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol during any training and assessment is not permitted, and people appearing to be suffering the effects of intoxication or drugs will be asked to leave and will forfeit any course fees paid
- Training and assessment areas must be kept neat and tidy at all times
- Seek assistance if you volunteer to lift items, e.g. move furniture in a training area
- Observe hygiene standards, particularly in eating and bathroom areas
- Faulty equipment — Equipment that is not working should be reported to RTO staff
Lifting Policy: You are encouraged to lift training and assessment materials voluntarily, assuming responsibility for any injuries. Avoid lifting objects beyond your capacity. When picking up items, remember to bend your knees and maintain a straight back. If you’ve had prior back issues, refrain from lifting heavy objects and seek assistance from others.
Evacuation
Safety within the classroom is our top priority. In the event of an evacuation, it’s crucial to follow the directions of the trainer. This ensures a coordinated response where the trainer can guide you to the nearest safe exit. First, the trainer will alert you to the situation and indicate which way to go. Then, calmly and orderly, proceed to the nearest exit as directed, avoiding elevators and using stairs if necessary. Once outside, move to the designated assembly point, which the trainer will have identified during the safety briefing at the start of the course. It’s important to stay together at this point for a headcount and to await further instructions. Remember, the key to a safe evacuation is remaining calm, following directions, and not going back inside the building until it has been declared safe by emergency services.
